PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE: THE CREDIT UNION WAY

NorState FCU, along with credit unions across the world, are dedicated to making a difference in their communities. From staff volunteering to donations to local charities, to food drives and branch fundraisers, the "People Helping People" philosophy runs strong at NorState FCU.

One major cause that we hold dear to our hearts at NorState FCU is the Ending Hunger Campaign. This campaign is our yearlong effort to raise awareness and funds for local food pantries throughout Aroostook County. In 2020, NorState FCU's local efforts raised over $15,000 and was ranked 5th among Maine credit unions in most raised during the year. Credit unions throughout Maine, since the 90s, have raised over $10.4 million to help fight food insecurity in Maine. 100% of all the money raised stays in Maine and is distributed back into the communities that raised those funds.

For the past 14 years, during the holiday season, NorState holds its "Hope for the Holidays Food Drive". Co-sponsored by our friends at Channel X Radio, the food drive helps collect non-perishable items and monetary donations to help stock the shelves of our local food pantries. Last year, more than 9600 lbs. of non-perishable food was collected!

This year's food drive kicked off on December 1st and will run until December 31st. You can drop off your donations at any our six branches locations in Madawaska, Van Buren, Eagle Lake, Ashland, Fort Kent or Presque Isle. You can also make monetary donations online by visiting https://campaignforendinghunger.org.

Join us to help fill our food pantries and help those in need this holiday season.
