NORSTATE FCU OPTS TO AWARD EIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS INSTEAD OF SIX

Every year, NorState Federal Credit Union sets out to award (6) $1000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. After reading this year’s applications though, six didn’t seem like enough. “This year, due to the outstanding caliber of all applicants, NorState FCU has increased its awarded scholarships from six to eight $1,000 scholarships. I am so very proud of the students in our field of membership and their drive to be successful. They are our future,” stated Susan G. Whitehead, CEO and President of NorState FCU.

As part of the application process, high school applicants had to attend an Aroostook or Northern Penobscot County school, be accepted and plan to attend a two-year or four-year college or university and be an active NorState FCU member. Along with a short essay, applicants needed to list all community service projects they had contributed to or volunteered for. Whitehead also stated, “NorState’s philosophy of People-Helping-People defines who we are as an organization and as employees. That is why we put an emphasis on volunteerism when considering applications for our scholarship awards.”

NorState is proud to announce their 2022 scholarship winners: Alexander White and Matthew Hedrich (Presque Isle High School), Clark Condon (Ashland High School), Cassidy Page (Caribou High School) and Isabelle Lavoie, Mason Chasse, Emmanuel Morin and Madison Ringuette (Madawaska High School).

Cassidy Page shared this testimonial, “I have had an account at NorState FCU since I was a freshman. I feel as though having an account at this age teaches one to value their money and be smarter with it.” Alexander White mentioned that having a NorState FCU credit card will help him establish good credit to help make bigger purchases in the future easier. Isabelle Lavoie also added, “As a young working adult, I needed a place to keep my money secure and NorState was able to provide that for me. Not only does my money gain interest when it is in my savings account, but it also prevents me from spending it.”

Congratulations to all eight NorState Federal Credit Union scholarship recipients.
