NORSTATE FCU TO HOST 2ND ANNUAL SPECIAL OLYMPICS GOLF TOURNAMENT
NorState Federal Credit Union is proud to announce the return of its Special Olympics Golf Scramble, taking place this July in support of Special Olympics athletes across Aroostook County.
Last year, NorState FCU took over the tournament to continue the long-standing tradition of the Cloukey Challenge, originally founded by Rene Cloukey and a dedicated group of volunteers. For 35 years, the Cloukey Challenge raised critical funds and awareness for Special Olympics programs throughout the region. In its first year carrying on this legacy, NorState Federal Credit Union raised $18,500 to benefit local athletes.
Now entering its second year, the NorState Federal Credit Union Special Olympics Golf Scramble aims to surpass that milestone and further expand opportunities for athletes and their families. This year’s tournaments will be held on: July 10 at Mars Hill Country Club and July 11 at Long Lake Country Club.
Businesses and community members are invited to participate in a variety of ways, including event sponsorships, team registrations, silent auction donations, and door prize contributions. Community support plays a vital role in ensuring the continued success and growth of Special Olympics programs in Aroostook County.
“We knew stepping into a tournament with such a long and meaningful history came with a lot of unknowns. There was a real sense of responsibility in carrying that forward. What we didn’t expect was just how incredible the support would be," stated Danielle Hebert, NorState FCU Director of Community Engagement. "The response from local businesses, participants, and volunteers was overwhelming in the best way, and it’s truly what made our first year such a success. It reinforced just how much this cause matters to our community, and we’re excited to build on that momentum.”
