PRESS RELEASE

YOUR CHANGE HELPS CHANGE LIVES AT NORSTATE FCU

The past couple of years certainly have brought upon new challenges, but the spirit of community and generosity continues to be an essential part of NorState Federal Credit Union’s daily activities. One way it has been evident is the daily use of their coin sorter machines located in Presque Isle, Fort Kent, and Madawaska. Every year, NorState FCU donates the user fees collected from these coin sorters to a local charity. Food pantries have been heavily impacted by the pandemic and for this reason they were selected as the 2021 recipients. Thanks to NorState FCU members and non-members, a total of $5569.97 was collected. Susan G. Whitehead, NorState FCU CEO, expressed her thanks by stating, “The generosity of our community continues to amaze me.  We have certainly been through another difficult year and yet our community still comes together to help their neighbors in need.  I want to thank everyone for supporting our ending hunger fundraising efforts." Funds raised from 2021 will be distributed to the 13 food pantries in our local area. Donations will be made to those food pantries during NorState’s annual meeting to be held in May.

NorState FCU also announces that recipients of their 2022 coin sorter fundraising efforts will be Angel Flight New England and Patient AirLift Services (PALS). Both non-profit organizations provide free flights for patients requiring medical diagnosis, treatment or follow-up appointments who live in rural areas or whose financial resources would not otherwise enable them to receive medical treatment or diagnosis. Funds raised will go towards assisting those in need of their services in our local area. NorState members and non-members can use the coin machines located in Presque Isle, Fort Kent, and Madawaska for a small user fee. User fees collected will be divided between the two organizations.
